Yard Labourer

Base: Lewes Branch
Reports to: The Branch Manager

General Duties

Yard duties include loading vehicles, storing and stacking timber and sheet material, picking customers orders, serving customers with materials from yard, keeping the yard clean & tidy. Yard staff may be trained to operate some woodworking machinery.

Yard staff are in the position of meeting our customers on a daily basis therefore the image they present is extremely important and should reflect the company's policy of service and quality. In effect this means that we expect drivers to behave in a polite, courteous, helpful and considerate manner.

Should the occasion arise drivers are expected to carry out any other duties reasonably requested of them in the yard that they are trained for or capable of doing. You may also occasionally be required to work in either other departments or at a different branch.

Uniform

We will issue drivers with company t-shirts, polo shirts, sweat shirts and coats.

Person Specification

The person we are looking for to fill the above position must meet the following:-

Requirements

• A general level of literacy is required
• Must be numeric
• Yard staff come into contact with fellow employees, customers, other road users and members of the public and must be able to be polite, courteous and helpful at all times.
• The physical ability to assist with picking orders and loading/unloading vehicles.
