Delivery Driver

Base: Newland Road, Worthing Branch
Reports to: The Branch Manager

General Duties

Drivers duties involve loading vehicles, delivering goods, routine inspection of vehicles, washing of vehicles etc. All drivers are expected to have a basic knowledge of transport law as it relates to them e.g. drivers hours, tachographs, speed limits etc. and are required to drive within the law.

Wenban-Smith Ltd. drivers are in the position of meeting our customers on a daily basis therefore the image they present is extremely important and should reflect the company's policy of service and quality. In effect this means that we expect drivers to behave in a polite, courteous, helpful and considerate manner not only to our customers but also to other road users.

Should the occasion arise drivers are expected to carry out any other duties reasonably requested of them in the yard that they are trained for or capable of doing. You may also occasionally be required to work in either other departments or at a different branch.

Uniform

We will issue drivers with company t-shirts, polo shirts, sweat shirts and coats.

Person Specification

The person we are looking for to fill the above position must meet the following:-

Requirements

• Must have experience of driving 7.5t vehicles
• Must have current, suitable driving licence
• Must have at least 3, ideally 4, driver CPC modules. Or have a qualification card.
• The position requires drivers to work from delivery addresses, therefore a general level of literacy is required.
• Must be numerically literate
• Drivers come into contact with fellow employees, customers, other road users and members of the public and must be able to be polite, courteous and helpful at all times.
• The physical ability to assist with picking orders and loading/unloading vehicles.
